TWO HOURS UNDER THE SUN
2020-2025
Two Hours Under the Sun is a series created during the pandemic in 2020. The title refers to the amount of time objects were said to need (as announced early in the pandemic) under direct sunlight in order to be disinfected before their normal state could be restored.
The pieces, characterized by the depiction of scattered forms across vast spaces, explore themes of temporality, permanence and metaphysics. The passing of time is the only constant. The inclusion of natural elements against ethereal backgrounds allows for an unsettling dialogue between the natural and the supernatural.
Each piece is a meticulous exploration of scale and speed, juxtaposing the infinite with the intimate. Desert landscapes, punctuated by dried vegetation and enigmatic forms, invite reflecting on the passing of time, our lasting impact on the environment and its impact on us.
